ALBANY - For two quarters, the Albany boys basketball team was up to the challenge against Barneveld.

However, Barneveld behind a big second half rolled to a 62-47 win. Albany (5-5, 3-2 Six Rivers East) led 8-6 after the first quarter and led 21-14 in the second quarter. The Eagles closed the second quarter on a 13-3 run to take a 27-24 halftime lead. The Eagles broke the game open by outscoring the Comets 24-8 in the third quarter.

"We played two quarters," Albany coach Derik Doescher said. "We haven't played a full four quarters yet. It got away from us in the third quarter. That has kind of been our M.O. all year. You get outscored 24-8 in the third quarter and it's pretty much over after that."

The Comets played a zone with some success early on. However, the Eagles hit six of their 11 three-pointers in the third quarter.

Albany sophomore Isaiah Shell scored 17 points and Gavin Ruef added 16 points.
