Bantams take third at Spooner

MONROE - This last weekend the Monroe Avalanche Bantams traveled to Spooner for a weekend tournament and came away with third place.

Saturday morning the Bantams faced off against Thunder Bay from Canada winning 6-4. Jason Johnson scored three goals this game marking his first hat trick for the weekend. Johnny Page, Geoffrey Daley, Jake Trickle scored a goal apiece with assists by Johnny Kalgren, Johnson and Matt Hodgson.

Goalie Jess Hager recorded 27 saves for the game.

Saturday afternoon the Bantams went up against Ashland for and lost a close game 8-7. Daniel Gerhard scored three goals for a hat trick along with Johnson scoring three goals marking another hat trick. One of Gerhard's goals was made while the Bantams were short handed, which was assisted by Kalgren. Hodgson scored a goal assisted by Chase Hellenbrand.

Goalie Jess Hager had 25 saves for the game.

Sunday afternoon the Bantam team played New Richmond for third place in the tournament and won 7-3. Johnson scored four goals this game with two coming short handed. One of the goals was assisted by Gerhard.

Gerhard had two goals for this game with assists made by Kalgren, Brett Jones and Geoffrey Daley. Alex Landen also had a goal.

Hager recorded 18 save for the game.
