Avs net multiple victories

MONROE - The Monroe Youth Hockey Mite team is grateful to all of their fans that came out Saturday to support them at Fan Appreciation Day.



Mites (8U-Cross Ice)

The Avalanche took on the Jr. Saints at home in three heated battles on the ice. In Game 1, Blake Folgate was in at goalie. Goals were scored by Brogan Hoelscher and two by Lane Schilt. 

During Game 2, Jaxson Daughenbaugh was saving pucks for the Avalanche. One goal was scored by Blake Folgate. 

Finally, in Game 3, Michael Santiago guarded the net for Monroe. Goals were scored by Blake Folgate, Lane Schilt and two by Barrett Brandli.  

On Sunday, the Mites traveled to Verona. In the first game against McFarland, the goalie was Brogan Hoelscher. Goals were scored by Zane Picker, Lane Schilt and two by Barrett Brandli.

Brandli scored two goals in the second game against Middleton. Other goals were scored by Emma Janecke, Wesley Dammen and Blake Folgate. The goalie was Lane Schilt.

In the final game against Verona, the lone goal was scored by Wesley Dammen. The goalie was Michael Santiago.



Squirt B (10U)

The MYHA Squirt B team is grateful to all of their fans that came to watch them play at SLICE on Saturday for Fan Appreciation Day. The Avalanche lost to McFarland 6-4. 

In the first period, Logan Keleher had a breakaway goal to put the Avalanche on the board.

During the second period, Garrison Lemak scored one for Monroe on an assist by Brixen Dale. 

In the final period, goals were scored by Parker Allen and Brixen Dale on assists by Johnny Santiago. Satchel Moorman had an incredible 38 saves at the net. 

On Sunday, Squirt B traveled to the ice arena in Baraboo. The Avalanche played well passing the puck and working as a team which gave them several great shots at the goal, unfortunately the Cyclones goalie stopped every one. Monroe had several great breakaways but couldn't convert in this loss to the South Central Cyclones. Blake Folgate had 10 saves as goalie for Monroe.  



Pee Wee A (12U):

Saturday was Grandparent/Teacher Appreciation Day and the Pee Wee A's had many fans in attendance to watch their game against the Middleton Wings A team. 

Although the Avalanche fell 7-2, the score doesn't reflect how well they played. Cash Anderson scored both goals with assists by Dylan Lewis and Marlies Brandli. Goalie Miles Gordon had 38 saves. 

Sunday's game against Oregon A was a tough-fought battle, that went back and forth throughout the entire game. 

The first goal scored by the Avalanche was by Dylan Lewis with an assist by Cash Anderson.

The second goal went to Lewis with an assist by Carson Buholzer. At the end of the first period it was 2-1 Avalanche. The visitors scored first in the second period but that goal was then answered by Wyatt Janecke with an assist by Seth Brandt. At the end of the period, it was tied 3-3. 

The third period was a tough defensive battle with Middleton up 4-3 with a minute left to play, so the Avalanche pulled their goalie. Unfortunately, the puck got away from the Avalanche and Middleton scored with an empty net to end the game 5-3. Gordon had 32 saves.



Pee Wee B (12U):

The Pee Wee B Avalanche skated to a 5-3 win over Dodgeville. 

The Avalanche would survive an early 5-on-3 man disadvantage, and go on to score a short-handed goal by Payton Hathaway (assisted by Carson Kurschner) to take a 1-0 lead going into the second period. Hathaway would score again in the second period, putting the Avalanche up 2-0 going into the final period. 

Things would get exciting in the final period, starting with a goal from Haden Barker on an assist by Hathaway and Christian Carpenter. The Avalanche would give up two quick goals, however, making it 3-2 with over six minutes remaining. The Avalanche would survive another 5-on-3 disadvantage, and D.J. Rath would increase the lead on a wrister, assisted by Gavin Roth. Easton Dreyfus would add an empty net goal, assisted by Roth to wrap up the scoring.

Goalie Xander Obert had 33 saves in the victory.

In Game 2 of the day, the Avalanche team played in Beloit. The cold rink didn't bother the Pee Wees as they defeated the Blades 6-1. 

Carpenter started the scoring early in the first period with a pass from Kurschner. Rath and Hathaway each added two more goals and Downs rounded out the scoring with a goal of his own. 

Those adding assists included Dreyfus, Carpenter, Downs and Barker. Kyle Theorin recorded the win in goal with 17 saves.

On Sunday, the defense came up big as the Pee Wee team defeated Janesville 3-0. 

Scoring for the Avalanche were Jayden Downs, Jaryn Fonseca and Dreyfus, with assists by Hathaway, Rath and Downs. Goalie Obert had 15 saves in the shutout. The Pee Wee B team improves their season record to 19-3 with the weekend wins.
