Avalanche teams net road wins

MCFARLAND - The Monroe Squirt A team traveled to McFarland on Saturday to take on the Spartans and played to a 1-1 tie.

McFarland scored first and held the Avalanche scoreless after 12 minutes. Monroe opened strong in the second period with Maisy Fonseca scoring a goal on assists by Beau Janecke and Jace Daughenbaugh to it at 1-1.

Brock Brandli had 21 saves.

On Sunday, Avalanche Squirt A skated to a 5-1 win over the Dodgeville Ice Wolves. Each team put up a score in the first period, with Brody Koehn scoring first for Monroe on an assist by Brady Stuart.

Monroe had the lone score in the second period as defenseman Ben Erdley took the puck up the ice and scored unassisted. The third period was all Avalanche with goals by Brady Stuart, Carter Nemergut and Brody Koehn. Brandli recorded 18 saves.



Squirt B

On Saturday, the Avalanche Squirt B team traveled to Hartmeyer Arena and beat the Patriots 2-0.

It was an action-packed game and both goalies were put to the test. Satchel Moorman had 15 saves, achieving his first shut-out of the season for the Squirt B team. Logan Keleher had the first goal late in the second period and Tre Dammen followed up with a second goal in the third period.

On Sunday, Squirt B played Sun Prairie at home in a very defensive game for the Avalanche. Moorman had 28 saves. The offense had a few great shots at the net, but were unable to put any goals on the board as Sun Prairie took the win. 

The Squirt B will be on the road with games in Sauk Prairie at 1 p.m. Saturday and 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Dubuque.



Pee Wee A

On Saturday the Pee Wee A took on the Dodgeville Ice Wolves and lit up the scoreboard with a 17-2 victory.

Seth Brandt and Cash Anderson had five goals a piece, Wyatt Janecke had a hat trick, Cameron Newcomer had two and Evan Brendemuehl and Dylan Lewis each had one.

Assists for the team were Brandt with five, Lewis and Brendemuehl with two a piece and Miles Gordon and Anderson with one each.

Marlies Brandli had 17 saves in her first game as goalie.

The Pee Wee A team suffered their first losses of the season Sunday. Both were away games with the first one to Beloit A. It was a close game until the third period when Beloit put the game away 6-3.

Goals for the Avalanche were Seth Brandt, Dylan Lewis and Wyatt Janecke. Miles Gordon had 43 saves.

Next up was a tough Oregon A, which won 8-0. Miles Gordon had 58 saves.



Pee Wee B

The Avalanche Pee Wee B team lost a rough one to McFarland 6-2 at home. 

Scoring for the Avalanche were Payton Hathaway and Gavin Roth on an assist from Hathaway. There was a total of 12 penalties called, five of which were against the Avalanche. Goalie Xander Obert had 21 saves in the loss.

On Sunday morning, the Avalanche Pee Wee B skated to an 11-2 victory over Sauk Prairie in Monroe. Hathaway would start off the scoring early, on his way to another hat trick for the season. Also achieving a hat trick during the game was Kyle Theorin.

Adding goals for the Avalanche were Jayden Downs, Roth, Haden Barker, Carson Kurschner and D.J. Rath. Rath led the team in assists as well, with two. Also contributing assists, were Christian Carpenter, Roth, Jaryn Fonseca and Downs.

Obert had 27 saves. The next game is a rematch against Sauk Prairie at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.



Mites

This weekend the Avalanche Mites had a bye. Cross-ice action will resume Sunday. The Mites will play at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in Stoughton.
