Avalanche successful in Viroqua, Reedsburg

MONROE - This past weekend marked the end of regular games for Avalanche Hockey as the girls, Squirt A and Squirt B teams traveled to Viroqua on Saturday and Reedsburg on Sunday.



U10 Girls

The Avalanche defeated the Viroqua Thunder 9-1. Scoring for the Avalanche were Alyssa Knauf (3), Anika Einbeck (3), Ally Einbeck, Lilah Bauer and Haley Knauf. Earning assists were Rebekah Rath (2), Haley Knauf and Ally Einbeck. The Avalanche U10 had 19 shots on the Thunder's goal, while limiting the Thunder to just one shot on the Avalanche goal.



Girls U12

The Avalanche shut out the Viroqua U12 team, 7-0. Lighting the lamp for the Avalanche were Tessa Janecke (3), Alyssa Knauf (2), Ally Einbeck, and Anika Einbeck. Earning assists were Anika Einbeck (2) and Brooke Teubert. The Avalanche also outshot the Thunder 31 to 3.



Squirt A

The Avalanche defeated the Viroqua A, 7-0. Scoring first period goals were Alyssa Knauf, Cade Janecke and Payton Stauffacher, and the Squirt A gained two more goals by Stauffacher and Cade Janecke in the second period. In the final period, the Avalanche scored two goals by Hayden Roth and Cade Janecke. Earning assists were Hayden Roth (2), Cade Janecke (2) and Tessa Janecke. The Avalanche outshot Viroqua 26-2.

On Sunday, the Avalanche defeated Reedsburg, 5-2. Cade Janecke opened the scoring, on an assist by Anika Einbeck. Tessa Janecke, assisted by Roman Bauer, put another on the board in the first period to go up 2-1. Roth, assisted by Luke Kuberski, scored the only goal in the second period. The Avalanche added two more goals in the third by Roman Bauer and Kuberski, assisted by Cade Janecke. The Avalanche outshot Reedsburg 16-7.

The Avalanche Squirt A will end their season next week in Black River Falls, competing in the Region 4 3A state tournaments.



Squirt B

Goalie Aiden Runkle earned his sixth shutout of the season against Viroqua Squirt B, as the Avalanche Squirt B won the game 10-0. Scoring for the Avalanche were Ethan Williams (3), Jayden Johnson (2), Bryce Montgomery (2), Brady Smith, Alvin Buholzer and Ryan Molitor. Earning assists were Williams, Johnson, Buholzer, and Molitor. The Avalanche Squirt B had 35 shots on Viroqua goal.

On Sunday, the Avalanche defeated Reedsburg B, 8-2. Scoring for the Avalanche were Ethan Williams (3), Brady Smith (3) and Ryan Molitor (2). Earning assists were Molitor (2), Rebekah Rath (2), Williams, Brady Smith, and Montgomery. The Avalanche had 29 shots on goal, while recording 7 saves.

The Avalanche Squirt B will participate in the Region 4 3B state tourney in Waupun.
