During the championship round, the Avalanche were up against the Elmbrook Eagles, playing for third place in the tournament. It was a tough match for both teams as they were quite evenly matched. The U12/U14 traveled to Hartland on a snowy Sunday, Jan. 26 to play two late afternoon games against their U12 and U14 teams. The Avalanche played strong in both games with the offense making great passes and plays. The defensive line did their best to keep the puck out of their zone.

Cammi Ganshert earned a hat trick in both games. Ally Einbeck and Brooke Teubert each added goals. Recording assists were Ava Lothes, Ally Einbeck, Lilah Bauer, and Anika Einbeck (two). The Avalanche shut out Hartland 7-0 in the first game against their U12 team. The second game the same Avalanche girls took on Hartland's U14 team. Again, the Avalanche won 5-1. Goalie Jenna Schmerbach recorded 35 saves in the game.

Pee Wee B

During a league game Saturday, Jan. 25 at The Ice Pond in Waunakee against the Wildcats, the Monroe Avalanche Pee Wee B hockey team let their guard down in the second period to give up a game that they easily could have won. With the shots on net and play being equal during the entire game, it was the second period that caught the Avalanche off guard for a short three-minute stint and had them playing from behind in the third hoping to make some sort of comeback. Unfortunately, the three goals that Waunakee were able to put on the board against Avalanche goaltender Heath Bear would seal the deal.

The Avalanche were only outshot by one, but were not able to get any breaks. Bear recorded 21 saves in the game. With the loss, the Pee Wee B team drops to 4-14-3. They will play in the Region 4 State Tournament Playdown (playoff) game against Reedsburg/Wisconsin Dells at noon Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Madison Ice Arena. The winner of this game will go on to represent Region 4 at the WAHA Pee Wee 3B State Tournament in Amery March 14-16.
