Avalanche Pee Wee B stay unbeaten

MONROE - Home ice has treated the Pee Wee B Avalanche well so far this year, as they improved their record to 3-0 by defeating the Madison Patriots 9-5 Saturday. Payton Hathaway got his second hat trick of the season while adding two assists.

Haden Barker, D.J. Rath, Gavin Roth, Jayden Downs, and Ethan Rosenstiel (two goals) each joined the scoring. Downs added two assists, and Rath contributed one assist in the victory. Xander Obert had 27 saves in goal.  

The Pee Wee B Avalanche then had two games on Sunday. In the first game against a physical Beloit squad, Hathaway led the scoring with two goals to lead Monroe to a 6-3 win. The Avalanche took advantage of Beloit penalties, and got power play goals from Roth, Obert and Rosenstiel.

Downs added a goal of his own, with an assist from Haden Barker. Jaryn Fonseca, Carson Kurschner and Roth also had assists in the game. The Avalanche put up 56 shots on goal against Beloit. Goalie Kyle Theorin had a solid game in the pipes with 20 saves.  

In the second game Sunday, at Oregon, Monroe pulled out a thrilling 2-1 win. Oregon got on the board first, with a shot off the post that ricocheted into the net. Theorin tied the game on an assist from Easton Dreyfus late in the first period.

Dreyfus would snap a shot past Oregon's goalie to give the Avalanche the lead with just over 11 minutes remaining.

Obert had 22 saves for the game and the Pee Wee team improved to 5-0.

The Pee Wee A team had a 5-4 win on Saturday against the Dubuque A team. In the second period, the Avalanche had goals by Evan Brendemuehl and Wyatt Janecke. Assists were recorded by Seth Brandt and Dylan Lewis. In the third period, goals were scored by Cash Anderson, Cameron Newcomer and Brandt. Assists came from Brendemuehl (two), Brandt and Janecke.

Miles Gordon had 33 saves in goal.

On Sunday, the Pee Wee A team played Stoughton A and came away with a 10-1 win. Brandt had a hat trick, Anderson, Janecke and Brendemuehl scored two goals each, and Cole Buholzer added a score.   

Stuart and Brandt each had three assists. Other assists came from Anderson (two), Lewis, Brendemuehl and Cole Buholzer. Gordon finished with 10 saves. 



Mites

On Sunday, the Monroe Mite White team played at Beloit. The Mite games are played cross ice, allowing the players more puck touches while improving their skating and passing skills. The team worked well together playing against Oregon, Janesville 2, and Beloit. 



Squirt B

On Saturday, the Monroe Squirt B team lost its season opener to McFarland.

Satchel Moorman had 17 saves and one goal was scored by Tre Dammen. On Sunday, the team took on the Patriots at home and skated to a 3-2 victory.

Logan Keleher scored the first goal on assists by Brady Jones and Johnny Santiago in the second period. Dammen scored two solo goals in the second and third periods. Moorman had 19 saves in the net.
