Avalanche Mite B unit posts runner-up finish

MONROE - The host Mite B team won three straight games to reach the championship game of the Avalanche Mite Tournament last weekend at SLICE.

In Saturday's opener, goaltender Aiden Runkle recorded shutout and Roman Bauer had a hat trick as the Avalanche rolled to a 7-0 victory against Oregon No. 1. Alvin Buholzer added two goals and Hayden Roth and Robert Schroeder each added one.

The Avalanche defeated the Chicago Jets 4-1 later Saturday, with Bauer, Buholzer, Bauer and Blaze Janecke scoring goals and Bauer making 16 saves.

Roth scored a hat trick and Colton O'Connor added two goals Sunday morning as the Avalanche posted a 5-3 victory against Oregon No. 2 to reach the championship game.

McFarland defeated the Avalanche 6-2 in the championship game.
