Avalanche Bantam team moves into first

MONROE - The Avalanche Bantam youth hockey team defeated Janesville 5-4 in a fast- paced game on Appreciation Day Jan. 14.

Cade Janecke scored the first goal on passes from Anika Einbeck and Tessa Janecke. Janesville responded with a goal to end the first period. The Avalanche scored four goals in the second period. Tessa Janecke scored two goals, while Cooper Dreyfus and Einbeck each had one goal. Janesville responded with three goals, but it wasn't enough to stop the Avalanche.

The Avalanche outshot Janesville 43-20.

On Jan. 15, the Avalanche faced two opponents. In the first, the Avalanche dominated visiting Oregon 4-0 and moved into first place in the league standings. Tessa Janecke opened by scoring a goal on an assist by Hayden Roth. The Avalanche scored two more goals in the second period from Alyssa Knauf, on passes from Roman Bauer and Haley Knauf, and Tessa Janecke, on assists from Roth and Einbeck. Luke Kuberski scored the final goal on a pass from Cade Janecke. The Avalanche outshot Oregon 35-10.

Later Jan. 15, the Avalanche lost to the Middleton Wings 4-1. Kuberski tipped in the lone Avalanche on passes from Alyssa Knauf and Cade Janecke. Goaltender Jayden Johnson recorded 23 saves.
