The Avalanche bantam hockey team won two of three games over the weekend and improved its record to 9-3-0.
The bantam team defeated the visiting McFarland Spartans 7-1 Saturday. Cade Janecke earned a hat trick while Tessa Janecke scored twice. Luke Kuberski and Cooper Dreyfus each scored once. Goaltender Jayden Johnson recorded 21 saves.
On Sunday, the Avalanche traveled to MIA and beat the Madison Polar Caps A 9-1. Dreyfus (2), Cade Janecke (2), Luke Kuberski, Bryce Montgomery, Anika Einbeck (2) and Hayden Roth scored.
Later Sunday, the Avalanche dropped a 6-4 decision to the Dubuque Jr. Saints A. Einbeck made a goal off a pass from Tessa Janecke to open the scoring. Cade Janecke, assisted by Luke Kuberski, scored the second goal in the first period. The Jr. Saints then scored three straight goals. With 33 seconds on the clock in the second period, Cade Janecke scored on an assist from Dreyfus to tie the game. The Jr. Saints scored in the top of the third and then Broc Kuberski, assisted by Ryan Molitor and Roman Bauer, tied the game 4-4 at the 5:44 mark. The Jr. Saints scored twice to clinch the win, including one goal into an empty net after the Avalanche put out six skaters.
