Avalanche Bantam A wins

MONROE - The Avalanche Bantam A hockey team shut out the Beloit Blades 5-0 Saturday.

Hayden Roth scored a goal on an assist from Payton Stauffacher to open the scoring. With 10 seconds left in the first period, Travis Edmunds tipped the puck in on a blue line slap shot on a pass from Stauffacher.

The Avalanche scored two more goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead. The goals came from Hayden Roth on assists by Alyssa Knauf and Edmunds.

Edmunds earned a hat trick in the third period, scoring his third goal on an assist from Anika Einbeck. The Avalanche also outshot the Blades 33-19. Goalie Heath Bear earned his first shutout of the season.



PeeWee A Split Weekend

The Avalanche PeeWee A team lost a close game to Beloit Blades PeeWee A 5-4 Saturday.

Hayden Roth scored the first goal on a pass from Tessa Janecke. Alyssa Knauf added a goal on an assist from Roman Bauer. Roth scored his second goal of the first period after a goal by the Blades to give Monroe a 3-1 lead.

The Blades scored one in the second period. Roth scored a goal early in the third period. The Blades answered with three goals. Roth found the back of the net on an assist by Tessa Janecke. With less than a minute, the Avalanche didn't have enough time to defeat the Blades. Goalie Jack Leverton recorded 33 saves.

Sunday, the PeeWee A team defeated Oregon PeeWee A 9-1 in their home opener. Tessa Janecke and Roth each scored four goals, while Blaze Janecke added one. Earning assists were Roth (two), Blaze Janecke, Tessa Janecke and Roman Bauer. Leverton again recorded 33 saves.



Avalanche Squirt A drop 2

A late afternoon brought the Monroe Squirt A team to Reedsburg. In the first period, Monroe's Lilah Bauer hit the back of the net on an unassisted play. Reedsburg answered with 20.5 seconds left in the first period.

The second period would be a battle for both teams, but Reedsburg would put another goal on the scoreboard. Reedsburg scored three more goals in the third period, while the Avalanche could only score one - a Haden Barker goal off an assist from Wyatt Janecke.

On Sunday, the Squirt A team would go toe-to-toe with the Middleton Wings B team. The Wings were able to slip a couple goals by Miles Gordon.

In the second period, the Avalanche tied the period score with a play by Lilah Bauer. With the Avalanche trailing 3-1, they kept working hard and trying to make plays but eventually fell to the Wings 5-2. Barker added the second goal on an assist by Gavin Roth.

Gordon recorded 51 saves for the weekend.
