Athletes of the Week Nov. 21-27

The nominations for the Athletes of the Week are

Monroe

Michael Barrett: The senior scored 19 points and played a key defensive role in leading the Cheesemakers to a 65-49 season-opening win over Brodhead.

Bryan Tordoff: The senior scored 17 points to help lead the Cheesemakers over Brodhead.

Kylee Ritschard: The senior scored 14 points and had seven rebounds to help the Cheesemakers escape with a 36-35 win over Brodhead in the season opener.

Area Boys

Tyler Ritschard, Monticello: The senior guard scored 22 points to power the Ponies to a m60-28 rout of Shullsburg in the season opener.

J.J. Panoske, Brodhead: The 6-foot, 10-inch big man scored 22 points in a 65-49 loss to Monroe.

Michael Wolff, Black Hawk: The senior scored 21 points in a 72-59 season opening loss to Ithaca.

Area Girls

Taylor Douglas, Brodhead: The sophomore scored 15 points, had six rebounds and missed a potential game-winning shot at the buzzer in a 36-35 loss to Monroe.

Alycia Grenzow, Juda: The senior scored 18 points in a 58-26 thrashing of East Dubuque. She followed that up with nine points in a 60-56 loss to Beloit Turner.

Ellen Kiser, Juda: The junior scored a game-high 25 points in a 58-26 win over East Dubuque. She then scored 21 points in the championship game of the Juda tournament in a 60-56 loss to Beloit Turner.
