Argyle's Dammen lifts Orioles over Vikings

BLANCHARDVILLE - Argyle's Amber Dammen went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Orioles to a 10-6 win over Pecatonica Monday.

Pecatonica (2-6, 0-4 Six Rivers East) was plagued by six errors.

"That was a big part of the game," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "We just have to play better defense consistently. We have shown flashes this year."

The Vikings had two-run first and second innings to take a 4-3 lead. The Orioles answered with a three-run third to take a 6-4 lead.

Pecatonica seniors Emily Scoville and Brooke Johnson each went 3-for-4 with a double.

Scoville pitched a solid game going the distance. She gave up just two earned runs on 12 hits. She struck out three and walked one.

Argyle sophomore Kayla-Butler Paulson pitched a complete game to get the win. Paulson gave up four earned runs on 10 hits. She struck out two and walked two.

Argyle junior Katie Larson went 2-for-3 with a double, while seniors Jenna Langmeier and Hannah Saalsaa each were 2-for-4.



East Troy 8, Brodhead 7

EAST TROY - The Brodhead softball team got in an early hole and couldn't complete the rally in an 8-7 loss to East Troy.

East Troy jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but the Cardinals responded with a three-run fourth to tie the game at 5. East Troy scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and didn't relinquish the lead again.

Brodhead senior Brooke Boegli was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. Cassie McGuire went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Brodhead's Erin Kloepping was 2-for-4 with one RBI and Payton Wright was 2-for-4.

Boegli pitched six innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits. She struck out seven and walked four.



Southwestern 16, Darlington 3

DARLINGTON - The Darlington softball team committed nine errors in a 16-5 loss to Southwestern.

The Wildcats erupted for a nine-run first inning. Southwestern (4-6, 4-2 SWAL) put the game out of reach with a seven-run third.

Darlington's Mariah Wiegel went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Redbirds.

Darlington's Tara Reichling pitched 2 2/3 innings and gave up three earned runs on 10 hits and walked one.



Belleville 13, Watertown Luther Prep 2

BELLEVILLE - Claire Johnsrud went 2-for-4 and had three RBI to propel Belleville to a 13-2 six-inning win over Watertown Luther Prep Monday.

Belleville freshman Cassidy Heller pitched six innings to get the win. She gave up two runs and scattered eight hits. Heller struck out six and didn't issue a walk.

Belleville's Taylor Kenkel went 2-for-2, while Taylor Wallom and Ryley Helwig were both 2-for-4.

With the win, Belleville improved to 4-6, 1-4 Capitol South. Belleville plays at New Glarus today.
