ARGYLE - The Orioles got back to their winning ways Monday flying to a 7-4 victory over Shullsburg-Benton.
Kelsey Bartels allowed three runs in the first inning on the hill for Argyle, but settled down - finishing with 11 hits allowed, two walks and six strikeouts. Bartels also went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double.
"We put our hits together when we needed them," Argyle head coach Heidi Ganshert said. The Orioles had just eight hits, but walked five times.
Shullsburg-Benton had only one error to Argyle's three.
Jodi Fischer was 2-for-4 and Danielle Truethardt had a triple.
Barneveld 14, Albany 4
ALBANY - The final score does not completely describe Monday's game, according to Albany head coach Connie Wunschel.
"It was awesome for us from the start," said Wunschel, who's team scored all four of its runs in the first two innings, leading 4-2. "It was fun. We were winning. The wheels just fell off in the sixth."
Barneveld, the conference leader with a 4-0 league record, had captured the lead in the third inning, 5-4, and led 7-4 headed into the top of the sixth. That's when the Eagles scored four runs on Comets starter Katie Krupke to blow the game open.
Krupke opened the game by shutting down Barneveld's first three hitters. From there, the Comets (1-4, 1-2 Six Rivers East) used the momentum to score three runs in the bottom of the first.
"That was a big momentum swing for us. The girls were really happy about shutting them down and then getting on the board," Wunschel said. "That was probably the only time we shut down the top of their order. Those top three girls just killed us."
Barneveld's first three hitters combined to go 9-for-15 with three doubles and a triple.
Juda 6, Monticello 0
MONTICELLO - Juda sophomore Amber Ramos didn't pitch against the Ponies when they beat the Panthers in the season-opening Monticello tournament.

"We couldn't hit her," Monticello coach Duane Garrison said. "I think she is even better than she was last year and she was the pitcher of the year last year. She's a difference maker. When she's on, they will be tough to beat."
Despite Ramos' pitching performance, the Ponies (3-2, 1-1) were still within striking distance heading into the seventh where the Panthers scored four runs. Juda junior Megan Trotter had a three-run double that highlighted the big inning. Trotter was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and sophomore C.J. Dunwiddie was 2-for-3.
