ARGYLE - Coach Kurt Ritschard made an adjustment on the press at halftime and the Argyle girls basketball team turned up the pressure in the third quarter to roll to a 71-60 non-conference win over Warren (Ill.) Monday.
Argyle (10-5, 6-1 Six Rivers East) outscored Warren 28-12 in the third quarter to open up a 13-point lead.
"We got them fired up at halftime," Ritschard said. "We adjusted our press and we got more steals. We got into our transition game more and finished."
Argyle senior Kylie Johnsen scored a team-high 18 points. Senior teammate Jenna Langmeier added 17 points. Argyle senior Hannah Saalsaa added 11 points and sophomore Kayla Butler-Paulson chipped in 10 points.
The Orioles made 17 of 23 from the free-throw line.
"It shows that we work on it in practice," Ritschard said. "We had a lot of confidence when they fouled us late."
