ARGYLE - Kyle Emberson's challenge for the Argyle High School boys basketball team Monday night was two-fold - scoring and guarding Highland's top player.

Emberson, a senior, scored 19 points and made three of his four 3-pointers in the first half to lead the Orioles to a 72-55 nonconference win over Highland.

Emberson also had the unenviable task of guarding John Ross Linscheid, who scored a game-high 31 points.

"We knew going into it John Ross Linscheid was a special player," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said. "Kyle was guarding him and did a great job in addition to scoring his points."

Argyle senior Riley Ostby scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. The Orioles had a balanced offensive attack. Junior teammate Rafa Puentevella added 11 points, and sophomore Brent Ritschard chipped in 10 points.

Argyle (5-3) made eight 3-pointers in the first half en route to a 41-27 lead at the half.

"They (Highland) played a 3-2 zone and we hit our shots," Jenson said. "We were just on fire from the outside."

Platteville 57, Juda 55

JUDA - Cole Fortney scored a team-high 16 points but Juda (2-5, 0-2 Six Rivers East) lost a nail-biter to Platteville.

Juda junior Matt Schmitt added 14 points, and teammate Keagen Haffele chipped in eight.

Platteville's Dillon Shinee scored 17 points and Braden Nies added 14 points. The Hillmen shot just 42.8 percent from the free-throw line (12 of 28) compared to 65.5 percent for the Panthers (19 of 29).

Juda plays in the Williams Bay tournament Dec. 28.
