BLANCHARDVILLE - The Argyle High School volleyball team remained at the head of the class in the Six Rivers East Conference after sweeping rival Pecatonica Tuesday.
Junior Ashley Bruehlman had a team-high eight kills and 13 digs to power the Orioles to a 25-13, 25-13, 25-14 win.
Argyle improves to 9-7 overall and 7-0 in the Six Rivers East.
"They are really good across the board," Pecatonica coach Jennah Schliem said. "They are undefeated in conference and are really tough. We always know when we go against them it will be a battle."
Argyle senior Kayla Butler-Paulson racked up 19 assists and notched a team-best six aces.
Junior Taetum Pagel had nine assists and three aces for Pecatonica (2-8, 2-6). Senior teammate Liz Tisch delivered five kills and senior Lexi Phillips had a team-high 12 digs.
Juda 3, Barneveld 1
JUDA - Junior Hailey Kammerer had 14 kills and senior Sara Jordan had 13 kills to lead Juda over Barneveld.
Juda senior Chelsea Burkhalter had a team-high 25 assists despite battling illness to lead the Panthers to a 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22 win over the Golden Eagles.
Juda (8-7, 5-3 Six Rivers East) moves into tie for second in the conference with the Eagles.
"This is a huge win for our team," Juda coach Scott Anderson said. "We have been working hard to get to this point."
Juda junior MacKenzie Byrne added 15 assists.
Anderson commended his hitters for their power hitting against Barneveld.
"If you want to play with the teams in the upper half of the conference you have to swing, and we did that," Anderson said.
Juda senior Alexis Goecks notched 26 digs and Kammerer had two blocks. Byrne added three aces.
"We served well tonight," Anderson said. "That is a big thing for us as a team."
Barneveld's Teegan Pickarts had a team-best 13 kills and two aces. Taryn Pickarts had 13 assists, and Abigail Sutter had a match-high 35 digs.
Black Hawk 3, Albany 0
ALBANY - Black Hawk senior Sam Lovelace had a monster match racking up 14 kills to lead the Warriors to a 25-22, 25-22, 25-18 sweep over Albany.
Black Hawk junior Hannah Herbst had a team-best 21 assists. Seniors Elizabeth Holland and Sydney Delzer each had two blocks. Senior Jordyn Delzer and Lovelace both added two aces.
Senior Taylor Seffrood led the Comets with 12 assists and three aces. Senior Sayde McDermott had a team-high 12 kills, and junior Hailey Stefanik had eight digs.
Mineral Point 3, Darlington 2
DARLINGTON - Battling for second place in the Southwest Activities League, Darlington dropped a five-set match to rival Mineral Point.
Darlington junior Kennedy Rankin hammered 17 kills and posted three blocks to lead the Redbirds in Mineral Point's 25-22, 26-24, 13-25, 20-25, 15-10 victory.
Darlington drops to 11-4, 4-3 SWAL.
"We came out flat and tentative in the first two games," Darlington coach Jen Schwartz said. "It's homecoming and we had our pink out night. There were a lot of distractions with those two events. We chipped away and came back. They (Mineral Point) served really well in the last game, and we had some passing mistakes, and we couldn't come back."
Darlington senior Callie Norton had a team-high 23 assists and senior Taryn Rankin notched four aces. Senior Taylor Jacobson had 10 digs to lead the Redbirds.
