Argyle survives Monticello

MONTICELLO - The Argyle High School boys basketball team closed Thursday's game with an 18-5 run to break away from a 42-42 tie with 7 minutes to play to knock off Monticello 60-47.

Argyle (12-5, 5-3 Six Rivers East) held a 33-27 edge at halftime and then senior Riley Ostby, who paced Argyle with 19 points, scored 11 points in the second half. He had two 3-pointers in the first half and two in the second half.

Junior Collin Argue added 14 points for Argyle, and junior Mitch Dammen grabbed 12 rebounds.

"They (Monticello did a good job of clogging the middle," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said. "We had to find other ways to score. In the last 5 minutes we picked up our intensity and we created some turnovers and got some easy buckets."

Junior Zach Price paced Monticello with 15 points, including two 3-pointers. Senior Logan Marty had 14 points, six rebounds and six assists. Sophomore Jon Errthum had 12 points and seven rebounds.

Marty, who had three 3-pointers, scored 12 points in the first half. With the loss, Monticello drops to 1-15, 0-9.



Pecatonica 67,

Albany 57

BLANCHARDVILLE - Junior A.J. Hendrickson scored 23 points to help offset a 35-point night by Tyler Dahl as the Vikings outlasted the Comets.

The Vikings (15-3, 8-1 Six Rivers East) led 23-17 at halftime. Hendrickson scored 14 points and freshman Colten Schraepfer scored all 12 of his points in the second half. Schraepfer made four of Pecatonica's 10 3-pointers in the game, and Hendrickson added three.

Pecatonica edged Albany 42-40 in the second half.

Dahl had 25 points in the second half to help the Comets (12-8, 5-6) stay close.



Big Foot 67,

Brodhead 61

BRODHEAD - Walworth Big Foot's Zak Greco knocked down five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points to shoot the Chiefs past Brodhead.

Big Foot hit 10 three-pointers as a team. Greco scored 22 points in the second half, and then had six points, including a 4-for-4 performance from the free-throw line, in the extra session. The Chiefs outscored the Cardinals

8-2 in overtime.

Brodhead sophomore Justice Tway scored a team-high 19 points and hit three 3-pointers. Sophomore teammate Brekan Day added 17 points. Brodhead's Tyler Flannery pitched in 10 points.

The Cardinals were 10 of 19 at the foul line.



In other action, Darlington knocked off Southwestern 71-57 and Barneveld defeated Juda 68-35.
