ARGYLE - Jessica Treuthardt tossed a two-hitter to lead Argyle to a 10-1 win over Pecatonica Tuesday, April 23.

"Any win feels good," Argyle coach Dan Treuthardt said. "We are trying to get in some kind of rhythm even though it's cold."

Jessica Treuthardt, a junior, walked the first batter on four pitches, but then she found her rhythm. She pitched seven innings and gave up one unearned run on a throwing error. With the win, Argyle improves to 5-6, 1-1 Six Rivers East.

"I don't think she was very warmed up at the start," Dan Treuthardt said. "She definitely warmed up and got better as the game went on."

Argyle junior Alysha Monahan went 3-for-4 with two doubles. Amber Dammen went 2-for-3 and Kayla Ostby and Hannah Saalsaa each were 2-for-4.

Pecatonica's Julia Meyer pitched four innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits. Cora Demler tossed two innings in relief and gave up three runs on one hit.

Barneveld 5, Juda-Albany 2

BARNEVELD - Errors haunted Juda-Albany in a road loss to Barneveld.

The Panthers (3-4, 1-2) committed five errors.

"We are a good team with a lot of potential," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "Until we stop making errors in the field, we are still a team with a lot of potential. Our conference is even. You can't make that many mistakes and come out on top. Until we can overcome that, this is probably what will happen. I believe we can overcome this. We have to believe it as well."

Juda-Albany junior Tabatha Davis pitched six innings and gave up five runs, but only one was earned. She struck out four and walked one.

Juda-Albany senior Jessica Rackow reached base all three times, going 1-for-1 with two walks.

Columbus 10, New Glarus 0

NEW GLARUS - The Glarner Knights braved cold temperatures and battled with Columbus for four innings before falling to the Cardinals in a Capitol Conference crossover.

Columbus held a 1-0 lead after four innings, but they manufactured five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

New Glarus coach Robert Wahl was pleased with how his players performed in the earlier innings, facing a talented team like Columbus.

"They're a very good team, they've beat some good teams in the north," Wahl said. "Just another good learning experience, and I was really happy with how we played."

Emma Jackson went the distance and took the loss for New Glarus. Four of the runs she allowed were earned, and she struck out four batters while walking four. It was her second straight complete game for the Knights.

"Emma now, both games, going complete games ... I just keep seeing improvement from a lot of kids that haven't played a lot," Wahl said. "I think last year this would've been a game that got away."

Offensively, the Knights were stifled by Columbus' Megan Wiersma, collecting just two hits off the freshman pitcher. Tamara Elzen and Sarah Cook notched the hits for New Glarus.

"Their pitcher was very good. She really could move the ball around," Wahl said.

Up next for New Glarus is a home tilt against Evansville, and after that it's a whirlwind of games against their rivals from the Capitol South Conference.

"I think in a two weeks we play our whole capitol conference. I think all the teams are good," Wahl said, adding that while there will be a lot of games in a short period, every team is in the same boat.
