ARGYLE - After a stunning five-game loss to Juda Tuesday in which the Orioles blew a two-game lead, Argyle head coach Shane Johnson had his team back on track Thursday.

"We as a team made a resolve to start over with a clean slate," Johnson said after his team's five-game win over Barneveld (5-4 Six Rivers East) Thursday. "We changed the way we practiced, changed the way we prepared and worked on fixing our fundamentals. That probably hurt us against Juda, but it payed off (against Barneveld)."

Argyle won the match in stunning fashion, going into extras for each of its three wins 19-25, 27-25, 19-25, 27-25, 18-16.

"This was probably the first time this season the kids were met by adversity and played in very tight games. They responded well," Johnson said.

Three Orioles put up double-figures in kills as Micala Peterson swatted down 19, Danielle Treuthardt notched 18 and Abby Flanagan added 11.

"It was great to know that our points earned were because of kills instead of errors," Johnson said.

Kayla Ostby dished out 47 assists, Flanagan added four aces and two blocks, Treuthardt had a block and Brittany Ziller had 26 digs.

Argyle (4-5) will have a full week off of action before hosting Monticello (3-5) for a chance to return to .500 in conference play.

Monticello 3, Juda 1

JUDA - Taylor Pfeuti had four blocks and Melissa Yaun added three aces as the Ponies took care of business against Juda, 25-14, 25-19, 14-25, 25-21.

"We came out flat," Juda head coach Pam Green said. "We didn't get going until Game 3, and by then it was too late."

Desiree Marty and Taylor Klitzke each had eight kills for Monticello and C.J. Dilley added 12 assists.

C.J. Dunwiddie had 11 kills for Juda, Miranda Trotter had 22 digs and Megan Trotter had 12 service points and three aces. Ellen Kiser added four blocks for the Panthers and senior setter Aly Pierce dished out 24 assists.

Brodhead 3, Clinton 2

BRODHEAD - Carly Mohns had 15 kills and Mariah Mohns had 11 as the Cardinals held off Clinton's roaring comeback attempt Thursday.

Brodhead needed every point it could get, winning 25-16, 25-23, 9-25, 21-25, 15-13.

Megan Olson had 20 digs and Taylor Douglas added 13 digs, 26 assists, four blocks and a pair of aces for the Cardinals. Heather Shanks had four aces and Mariah Mohns added a pair of aces and three blocks.
