JUDA - One night after handing Monticello their first conference loss of the season, the Juda-Albany softball team dropped their game on Tuesday to the visiting Orioles, 4-2.

In a battle of aces, Argyle senior Jessica Treuthardt picked up the win over Juda-Albany's Tabatha Davis. Juda-Albany finished with seven hits, which was one more than Argyle, but didn't score until late in the seventh.

Argyle's Jenna Langmeier and Hannah Saalsaa each finished with doubles, while Molly Marass was 2-for-3 for Juda-Albany (11-3, 2-3).

With her team atop the conference standings, Orioles coach Heidi Ganshert's message to her team is simple.

"We have to be ready to go for the next few games," she said. "Tonight was a very well-played game by both teams, (but) in the end they (Juda-Albany) had more errors."

HOLLANDALE - In seven innings of work, Black Hawk's Rachel Richard led her Warriors team to a 5-1 victory over host Pecatonica, throwing all seven innings, allowing one earned run, four hits, five walks, while striking out eight.

Monticello 6, Barneveld 2

BARNEVELD - After dropping a conference game to Juda-Albany on Monday, the Monticello softball team bounced back with a 6-2 victory over conference rival Barneveld.

"Tonight was a good rebound win for us," Ponies coach Duane Garrison said. "Especially since we lost last night. We've had some tough matchups against Barneveld, (but) tonight the bottom of our lineup did a great job in giving us an early lead."

Winning pitcher Claire Bruns didn't allow a walk in her seven innings of work for the Ponies (11-2, 6-1). Clare Gietzel and Alyssah Kubly both went 3-for-4 for Monticello.

McFarland 3, Brodhead 0

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead softball team was held scoreless in their 3-0 non-conference loss against a one-loss McFarland team on Tuesday. Up until the seventh inning, the Cardinals found themselves trailing by only a run, until McFarland scored two more runs in the final inning while shutting out Brodhead.

Junior Brooke Boegli pitched all seven innings for the Cardinals, allowing two earned runs, one walk and eight strikeouts.
