BELMONT - Argyle volleyball coach Jen Butler found how resilient her team could be this season after the Orioles went 2-2 at a season-opening tournament at Belmont Saturday.
Argyle finished 2-2 and set a starting point for the season.
"I think they met my expectations," said Butler, whose team beat Ithaca 25-11, 25-7 in pool play before losing a tight match to Potosi 26-24, 25-19. "I thought they played really well. They (Potosi) were a strong team. We struggled a little bit with serve receive in the second game. We just couldn't finish it."
In the silver bracket, Argyle topped conference rival Black Hawk in three sets 25-17, 25-12, 15-4. Highland then beat the Orioles 28-27, 25-12.
Argyle senior Jenna Langmeier had a team-high 31 kills and 23 digs in the tournament. Argyle sophomore Kayla Butler-Paulson racked up 75 assists and senior Kylie Johnsen added four blocks.
