RIDGEWAY - The Monroe Brewers are still looking for their first win after a 6-0 loss to Ridgeway in a Home Talent League Western Section game Sunday, May 19.

The Brewers (0-3) grounded into four double plays, including three inning-ending double plays. Brewers' pitchers walked six while the defense committed two errors, and the Monroe offense was limited to four hits.

"It's hard to win that way," Brewers player-manager Jeff Newcomer said. "Our pitchers continue to struggle with walks. You are not going to win that way."

Monroe's next Sunday league game will be at Dodgeville Saturday, May 25. The Brewers will then play at Argyle Sunday, May 26.

Argyle 11, Platteville 10

ARGYLE - Travis Erickson came through with a squeeze bunt to knock in the game-winning run in the eighth inning to give Argyle a thrilling win over Platteville.

Argyle (3-0) rallied from an 8-1 deficit. The Beavers scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning after a 1 hour, 15 minute rain delay to pull out the win.

Argyle's Drew Nafzger, who went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, walked in the eighth. Andy Bohlman and Lance Rossing singled to load the bases. Dylan Schwitz and Cory Stamm each came through with RBI singles, and Platteville walked in the game-tying run. Erickson then laid down a squeeze bunt to give the Beavers the victory. It's the second game the Beavers have won this season on a squeeze bunt.

"We will take them any way we can get them," Erickson said of the win. "I think it helps later on. With a 15-game schedule, we need every one at home."

Argyle's Jarret Bauman worked out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth by delivering a strikeout. Bauman pitched 7 1/3 innings in relief to get the win. He gave up three earned runs on 11 hits. He struck out five and walked five.

"It's another one-run game where Bauman came in and did his job," Erickson said. Rossing went 3-for-4 and Stamm and Erickson were each 2-for-4. Eight different players in Argyle's lineu drove in runs.
