ARGYLE - The Orioles got solid pitching from Kelsey Bartels on their way to an 8-0 win over Black Hawk Monday.
"It was a good game," Argyle head coach Heidi Ganshert said. "I'd like to see us cut down on some errors, though."
The Orioles had four errors, but made up for it by balancing out its scoring attack. Argyle scored two runs in the second, one in the fourth, two in the fifth and three in the sixth. The Orioles had eight hits and took advantage of 12 walks by Black Hawk pitcher Kayla Melland.
Darlington 9, Shulls.-Benton 3
DARLINGTON - The Redbirds collected 10 hits and scattered five errors and three hits by the Miners.
Laura Steiner picked up the win on the mound, going seven innings strong, striking out five and walking two.
Amber Peters was 3-for-4 for Darlington and teammates Katie Weiderholt and Savannah Winters each added two hits.
"We played a good game," Redbirds coach Bob Wiegel said. "We hit the ball well, pitched well and played good defense."
Pecatonica 3, Monticello 1
BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Kaci Cassidy pitched a one-hitter and Amanda Schoepp was a home run short of hitting for the cycle as the Vikings knocked off the Ponies.
Cassidy pitched a complete game and didn't allow an earned run. Monticello senior Mersadi Hilliard singled in the sixth to break up Cassidy's no-hit bid. Hilliard then came in to score on one of the Vikings' four errors. Cassidy struck out five and walked two.
"She was mixing it up really good," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "There also was a lot of defense plays behind her."
Schoepp went 3-for-3 and had a single, double and triple to lead the Vikings.
Monticello sophomore Karlie Klossner pitched six innings and gave up three runs on six hits. She struck out three, walked three and hit one batter.
