COBB - In a game originally scheduled to be played in Darlington, the Redbirds' softball team could only muster three hits after an impromptu bus ride and fell 5-0 to Iowa-Grant on Thursday.

"Our field was soaked," Darlington head coach Rebecca Norgard. "We couldn't really hit the ball at all. If we hit it, it was usually right to someone. We couldn't string hits together, let alone get many people on base."

Iowa-Grant scored one run in the bottom of the first and two more in the third. The Redbirds then allowed a run in each of the final two innings.

Laura Steiner pitched all seven innings for Darlington (2-9, 0-9 SWAL). She allowed just five hits, walked four and struck out eight.

Kari Blosch, Katie Wiederholt and Shawna Foulker each had a hit for the Redbirds.

Cambridge 17, New Glarus 3

CAMBRIDGE - The Knights were throttled by the Blue Jays in five innings on Thursday.

Cambridge scored five runs in each of the first three innings and added two more in the bottom of the fourth. New Glarus scored all three of its runs in the top of the fifth off reliever Lana Teisberg.

The Knights finished with six hits and recorded only one error.

Jessica Schieldt had two hits for the Knights.
