BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica was down to its final out in the eighth inning of a tie game with Monticello on Friday.

That's when Pecatonica junior Amanda Schoepp took advantage of another scoring opportunity. Schoepp reached on an error and came in to score the game-winning run on a passed ball to give the Vikings a 10-9 win over Monticello on Friday.

"We were in desperate need of a win," Pecatonica coach Chuck Meyer said. "Any win we can get is a good win for us."

Pecatonica (2-7, 1-3 Six Rivers East) overcame seven errors. Sophomore Ellie Gifford went 3-for-5 with a triple to lead the Vikings. Fellow sophomore Maggie Marion was 2-for-4.

"We didn't eliminate all of our errors," Meyer said. "We found a way to win. That was huge for us."

Pecatonica junior Kaci Cassidy pitched a complete game to get the win. Cassidy gave up four earned runs on seven hits. She struck out seven and walked five.

Monticello freshman Desiree Marty went 2-for-2 with a double to lead the Ponies at the plate. Monticello junior Olivia Doyle was 2-for-4.

Barneveld 10, Albany 0

ALBANY - The Comets committed eight errors and walked 12 batters - all while being no-hit. However, it was passed balls that hurt Albany the most.

"We'd walk somebody, but our catcher had a tough time stopping balls and each walk basically turned into a free trip around the bases.

Clare Koopmans went four innings on the mound and took the loss for the Comets. Koopmans and Kaitlyn Schultz allowed just two hits.

Barneveld scored two runs in each the first and the sixth innings, as well as three runs in both the fourth and the fifth.
