Area competitors enjoy strong efforts

Wrestlers competing for the Monroe Mat Rats posted several first-place finishes while competing in four tournaments last weekend.

The winners at the Oregon Youth Tournament were Max Haffele in the Second- and Third-grade bracket, Cole Murray (Seventh Grade) and Traiten Gorr (Eighth).

Other placewinners at Oregon included Allan Wand and Jovanny Erickson, who finished third and fourth, in the Kindergarten/First Grade division, Nicolas Newcomer (third, Second/Third), Garrett Grossen (second, Fourth/Fifth), Cole Cincicum (third, Fourth/Fifth) and Bodie Minder (third, Fourth/Fifth).

At the Weston/Ithaca tournament, Traiten Gorr posted a first-place finish.

In tourney action at Belmont, Corbin Mann was second (Second/Third) as was Patrick Rielly (Third/Fourth).

At the Stoughton Tough Man Tournament, Owen Voegeli (K/First) was a champion, while Christian Schuh was second and Wand fourth in the same division. In the First-/Second-grade bracket, Garrett Goegeli finished first while Jack Dubach and Dayne Garwell posted runner-up showings, Liam Hermanson was third and Brady Schuh fourth.

Minder won a title in the Third-/Fourth-grade bracket at Stoughton, while Max Patterson and Alex Witt posted seconds and Lukas Anderson and Aidan Sweeney each finished fourth. In the Fifth-/Sixth-grade bracket, Dempzy Foley was fourth.

Brodhead second

The Brodhead Wrestling Club finished second overall at the Stoughton Tough Man Tournament, with Marcus McIntyre (Kindergarten/First Grade), Grayson Erb (K/First Grade), Blake Doran (First/Second), Cole Hoesly (First/Second), Aaron Makos (First/Second) and Brayden Erb (Third/Fourth) all going 3-0 and winning first-place honors.

Kaleb Erb (Fifth/Sixth) was fourth, as was Tyler Hoesly (Seventh/Eighth).
