JUDA - The last time Monticello's Karlie Klossner pitched in a softball game in Juda, she left the field wanting more.
"I didn't like how my softball career ended," Klossner said of the Ponies' 3-2 10-inning loss to Juda-Albany in a WIAA Division 4 regional championship game earlier this month.
Klossner joined forces with three Juda-Albany players to lead the East to a split with the West in the Six Rivers Conference All-Star game on Thursday. Klossner pitched three shutout innings in the second game and Juda's Amber Ramos came through with a clutch RBI double to help the East win the night cap of the twinbill 2-0. With the win, the East earned a doubleheader split after two five-inning games.
"I was happy to play one more game," Klossner said. "I enjoyed playing in this game."
Highland's Emily Wolfe and River Ridge-Cassville's Tesha Peer combined tossed a no-hitter to lead the West to a 3-1 win in the first game of the doubleheader. The only run the East scored came after Argyle's Danielle Treuthardt walked and later scored on a wild pitch in the fourth.
Wolfe, who is going to University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and is considering a future in softball, said she wasn't aware that she had a no-hitter going.
"I don't keep track of things like that," she said. "I usually find out when I come out at the end of the game. It's exciting."
Ramos started for the East and in three innings on the mound, she gave up three runs on six hits. She struck out eight and walked two. Ramos was coming off a perfect game she threw in the Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Star game on Tuesday.
River Ridge-Cassville's Rachel Henkel singled off Ramos in the first and Belmont's Molly Bockhop walked. Belmont's Niki Jenkins then ripped an RBI single to left. Jenkins, who went 2-for-3, also crushed an RBI double to center in the third. Potosi's Kristi Bartels also came through with an RBI single to give the West a 3-0 lead.
Klossner, who is considering playing softball at Edgewood College, came in and tossed two shutout innings.
"They have really good hitters," Klossner said of the West. "It was a tough match."
The East didn't get their first until Monticello's Tanya Smith singled to center in the second of the night cap. The East broke through with two outs in the fourth of the second game. Treuthardt reached on an error and Ramos blasted an RBI double to center in the second to give the East a 1-0 lead. Ramos came in to score on an overthrow at second.
"It hit the sweet spot on the bat," Ramos said. "It felt really good. When I hit it, I knew it was going to go a ways and she (Treuthardt) would score."
Barneveld's Tory Schave pitched two perfect innings in relief to complete the shutout. Juda's Courtney Moisan, Ramos and Smith were each 1-for-2. Juda-Albany had another All-Star in Katlyn DeVoe, but she played for the West since they were a player short. DeVoe went 1-for-2 in the first game.
Ramos relished her final prep softball game.
"I have been playing with these girls since about third grade," she said of C.J. Dunwiddie, Moisan and DeVoe. "It was one last shin-dig. It was one last chance to play with them."
