Albany rallies by Ponies

MONTICELLO - The Monticello boys basketball team got off to a quick start but Albany rallied for 59-46 victory Tuesday in Six Rivers East action.

The Ponies led 16-5 with nine minutes left in the first half but the Comets closed the half on a 21-0 run and opened a 26-16 lead at halftime.

The Ponies cut the deficit to 38-35 with 7 minutes to play but could get no closer.

Albany senior Connor Trow scored 13 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 24. He made three 3-pointers and was 13 of 15 from the free-throw line.

Corbin Kelley and Brock Gilkes each added 10 points for the Comets.

Senior Zach Price led Monticello with 20 points, including two 3s. Jon Errthum chipped in nine points.



Pecatonica 66, Black Hawk 51

BLANCHARDVILLE - Senior A.J. Hendrickson scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Vikings over the Warriors in the Six Rivers East opener for both teams.

Hendrickson scored 11 points in the first half as Pecatonica (4-1) built a 35-25 lead.

Hendrickson hit three 3-pointers in the game and was 7-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore Conner Meyer scored 17 points, senior Josh Meier had 14 and junior Michael Flanagan added 11 for Black Hawk (1-0).



Juda 53, Argyle 47

JUDA - Senior Matt Schmitt scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to propel Juda over Argyle.

"It was a dog fight," Juda coach James Pickett said. "It was two solid defensive performances by both teams. We led the entire game. Every time we would make a run Argyle would answer. I give a lot of credit to Argyle. They played very hard the entire game."

Schmitt made 9 of 13 free throws, and the Panthers made 15 of 23 free throws as a team.

The Panthers jumped out to a 22-12 lead in the first half.

Juda junior Keagan Haffele added 14 points and hit two 3-pointers, and senior Skyler Stuckey had 12 points.

Argyle senior Collin Argue scored a team-high 21 points, and Mitch Dammen added eight.



New Glarus 60,

Lodi 56

LODI - New Glarus made just enough free throws down the stretch to hang on for a victory over Lodi.

The Glarner Knights led 44-24 before the Blue Devils made a comeback.

New Glarus sophomore Jaden Kreklow scored a game-high 20 points and drilled three 3-pointers. Junior Cullen Brooks added 15 points, and both sophomore Zach Feller and senior Jacob Tetner chipped in eight points.

The Knights made 8 of 14 free throws in the second half.



Darlington 68, Dodgeville 50

DARLINGTON - Senior Will Schwartz helped the Redbirds (2-0) get the early lead and finished with 23 points in Darlington's win over Dodgeville.

Schwartz had 12 points in the first half as the Redbirds built a 39-22 lead. He had one 3-pointer in the game and was 8-for-11 from the free-throw line.

Trevor Johnson had 14 points for Darlington.

Houston Stanek led Dodgeville with 21 points.
