ALBANY - A wild baseball game deserved a wild finish Friday. Albany's Brandon Pfeuti provided it.
Pfeuti's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Comets to a 12-11 come-from-behind win over Belmont.
The Braves broke out early, scoring five first-inning runs. But the Comets returned the favor with a five-spot in the bottom of the frame. The big blow came on senior Adam Zurfluh's grand slam.
But Belmont quickly regained the lead, going up 7-5 in the top of the second.
The game was filled with miscues. Albany committed 10 errors, while Belmont made five.
"We had a really rough start," Albany coach Brian Dahl said.
Belmont pitchers struck out six and walked seven, while Albany hurlers struck out five, walking six.
On offense, Albany was paced by Tyler Briggs who was 3-for-3, and Zurfluh, who was 3-for-4.
Dahl was impressed with his team's opponent.
"What a good team, a good group of kids," he said.
After fighting off being down early, Dahl was proud of his group.
"I was happy how my guys battled back and pulled out a tough win," he said.
