SOUTH WAYNE - The boys had their first-place competition in their sights, but both Black Hawk track and field squads finished runners-up at a Six Rivers quadrangular meet at home Tuesday evening.
Benton had just enough ammunition to win the boys side with 87 points, as the Warriors finished with 80 and River Ridge was right in their rear-view mirror with 78.
The Lady Warriors earned 59 points to first-place River Ridge's 88, with the Lady Zephyrs placing third with 41.
Senior distance specialist Ryan Hull was a multiple winner for Black Hawk, taking the 1,600-meter run (5:06.0) and the 3,200 (11:30.0). Tyler Whalen also was a multiple winner, as he took the 200 (25.4) and the 400 (56.0).
