Theron Lewis Jr., age 79, of Browntown passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at his home. He was born on August 12, 1943 the son of Theron and Dorothy (Suhr) Lewis. He graduated from Harlem High School in Rockford in 1961. Theron proudly served in the United States Army from 1964-1967. On July 31, 1965 Theron married Arlene Walton in Basswood Church.
Theron farmed, worked for the Monroe Times, and then worked for Iroquois Foundry; now known as Grede, where he retired. Theron’s family and faith were the most important things to him. He cared deeply for his wife and all his family. He enjoyed canoeing.
Theron is survived by his wife, Arlene; children, Rebecca (Patrick) Stietz, Rachael (Joshua) Larson, Sarah (Jason) Opie, Matthew (Shelby) Lewis, and Elizabeth (Travis) Gray; grandchildren, Logan (Haley) Stietz, Lydia Stietz, Ashly (Stanley) Bruegger, Lillian Opie, Lorelie Opie, Isabelle (Brodie) Schaeuble, Rose Lewis, Ava Lewis, Brenna Gray, Natilee Gray, Miranda Gray, Lila Gray, Silas Gray, and Penelope Gray; great-grandchildren, Drake Bruegger, Oaklynn Schaeuble, and one more expected in May; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ivan Gray; siblings, Betty Lewis and Jenny De Shazo-Brown; parents-in-law, Andrew and Violet Walton; sisters-in-law, Joan Creasey and Norma Jean Ewing; and brother-in-law, Bill Hole.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home at 12:00 PM Noon with Pastor Phil Butler officiating. Burial will take place at Pioneer Old Cadiz Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
