Ted was born on July 2, 1945 in Belvidere, IL, was the son of Theodore Sr. and Alice (Langan) Yurs. Ted’s nature of being independent and spending time outside took him through the occupations of a mason, a dairy farmer, and a building contractor. He took great pride in his strong work ethic and passed that along to his family. Ted worked hard, but when the day came to an end there was always time for summer motorcycle rides and twilight baseball games, after a long day on the farm. Vacations and time off didn’t come often but he drove hundreds of miles to attend family members’ track meets, concerts, curling matches, football, basketball, and soccer games; and you could always find him at the local tractor pull.

Surviving Ted are his five children, Amy (Tim) Verhagen, Trish (Joe) Beine, Jim (Karen) Yurs, Russ (Meg) Yurs, and Daryl Yurs. Through the years his family has grown to include 13 grandchildren, Melissa (Chad) Wittman, Gerrit Verhagen, Krystine (Drew) Lindemann, Ben, Logan, Liz and Jacque Beine, Alexa, Max and Abby Yurs, and Josie, Zave and Zeke Yurs; as well as, three great-grandchildren, Leonardo and Apollo Wittman and Aurora Lindemann. Ted is also survived by his sisters, Mary Yurs, Betty (Paul) Holland, and Judy (Roy) Elko; nieces, Shelly Holland, Carrie (Mark) Anderson, and Hannah (Ty) Young; nephew, Scott Holland; and a great-niece, Emma Young. Ted was preceded in death by his parents.
