Ruth (Hale) McGuire, age 90, of Darlington, WI passed away Friday, January 17, 2020, at the Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. She was born April 2, 1929 in Jordan Township, the daughter of Frank Hale and Tillie (Johnson) Hale. She graduated from Gratiot High School, and not long after began working as a CNA for the Lafayette County Manor. She was united in marriage to Donald “Butch” McGuire on September 23, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Church in Gratiot. She resided in the Wiota and Gratiot area the majority of her life.
Ruth is survived by her husband: Donald; three children: Patrick (Sara) McGuire of Gentry, Arkansas, Dennis McGuire of Darlington, and Teresa (Tim) Shertz of New Holland, Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren: Melanie (Dan) Beard, Mike Crapp, Courtney (Brett) Broge, Travis (Jen Peters) McGuire, Krista (Chris Simon) McGuire, Dylan (Nichelle Lewis) McGuire, Matt (Heather Reichling) McGuire, Nicole McGuire, and Amanda (Gary) Beckett; nine great-grandchildren: Christina Beard, Shyla Crapp, Ayden Broge, Taya McGuire, Rielly McGuire, Ryker McGuire, April Beckett, Emmett Beckett, and Eli Beckett. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Marold, Harold, Francis, and Robert; three sisters: Marie, Lucille, and Margaret; one son: Tim McGuire; and one daughter-in-law: Karen McGuire.
Ruth was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She enjoyed card clubs, checkers, walking, country western movies, and music, especially polka music. Ruth had a soft spot for cats, especially her cat Sweetie. She loved spending time with her grandkids, making memories that they will cherish forever. Ruth will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 20, 2020 at 11:30 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church (104 E. Harriet ST. Darlington, WI) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2020, from 9:30 AM until 11:15 AM at the church. A rosary will be prayed Monday, January 20, 2020 at 9:00 AM at the church prior to the start of the visitation. The Erickson Funeral Home of Darlington is serving the family.
