Roy A. Shultz, age 78 of Darlington, WI passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born Friday, October 13, 1944 in Monroe, WI the son of Allen and Hazel (Schwartz) Shultz. Roy grew up in Darlington where he graduated from Darlington High School in 1962. After high school, Roy went on to receive his associates degree in Automotive Technology from MATC in Madison in 1965. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara Goss, on January 15, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Platteville, WI. Roy spent a majority of his life proudly owning and operating Shultz Auto Body. After retiring from that he maintained Shultz Security where he served Darlington and the surrounding communities.

Roy is survived by his wife Barb of 57 years at home; his children: Suzy (Dale Kittleson) Shultz and Mark (Katrina) Shultz; his grandchildren: Kristi (Nate) Berg, Kory Kittleson, Maddie (Christian Gricoleit) Chitwood, Andrea (Jake Wyss) Kittleson, and Sydney Shultz; 4 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Ken (Beckie) Shultz and Loren (Mary) Shultz; a brother-in-law: Richie (Susie) Goss, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister-in-law: Ginny Werner.

Roy proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy where he served in the Vietnam War until being honorably discharged. He was proud to be involved in both the Darlington and Wisconsin Jaycees throughout the years. Roy had many talents but was always proud of his woodworking abilities and being able to make various momentos to give his family and friends as gifts. Roy enjoyed camping and taking trips to Governor Dodge in Dodgeville, WI and Yellowstone State Park in Lafayette County. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and took great pleasure in cutting firewood bonding with his children.  Roy was a train enthusiast and loved building model trains and road tripping to train depots around Wisconsin. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren creating memories they will all cherish forever.

A funeral service will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington) with Rev. Nick McElrath of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington where military graveside rites will be accorded by Bates-O’Brien-Howe-Wiegel-Roelli American Legion Post #214 of Darlington. A visitation will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.
