Robert Frederick (Bob) VonKaenel, age 75, passed away to his eternal home lord and savior Jesus Christ on July 25, 2021 at the New Glarus Home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born in Yakima WA, May 4, 1946; the son of Robert and Gladys (Ashman) VonKaenel. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1965 and then attended the University of Whitewater for 1 year. He married Karen Johnson July 16, 1967 at Jordan Lutheran Church. Bob was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church, Browntown, WI. Where he served on the church council for several years and also taught Sunday School.
He worked for Gempelers Tire during high school, then Roy’s Dairy until moving to Madison and worked for Pharo Heating, later employed by R. Mueller Cheese Factory Equip, Dorman’s Cheese, and retiring from Stoughton Trailers in 2006.
He was an avid Badger football fan attending all home games for many years and several away games including going to two Rose Bowl games. He also enjoyed Packer games. He enjoyed going on the Hot Rod Power Tour and car shows with family and friends. He was also a cub scout leader.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of 54 years; two sons, Jerry (Heidi Rufenacht) VonKaenel and Gary (Melissa) VonKaenel; sisters, Debra Goyich and Mary VonKaenel; sister-in-law’s, Carol (John) Olson, Velma (Steve) Shipler, Ruth(Gordy) Bergemann; brother-in-law’s, William (Betty) Johnson, Dennis (Helen) Johnson, James (Melva) Johnson, and Terry (Debra) Johnson; grandchildren, Nash VonKaenel of Muskego, Auburn VonKaenel of Monroe, and Wyatt, Veronica, Walker VonKaenel of Janesville; one great granddaughter Madison Renae Dutcher; nephews, Derek (Whitney) Goyich, Jay Olson, Aaron Bergemann, Scott, Michael, Daniel, Joshua, Andy, Kelvin, Peter and Matthew Johnson; nieces Beth Siewert, Shauna Bergemann, Tara McCrary, Michelle Buss, Danielle Reynolds, Erica Johnson, Amanda Gessler and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law Leo and Lois Johnson; brother-in-law’s, Ted Goyich, Loren Johnson, Roger Johnson, and Lenny Schrenk; niece, Carrie Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday August 3, 2021 at Jordan Lutheran Church, in Browntown with Pastor Robert Castro officiating. Burial will follow at Jordan Lutheran Cemetery.
A visitation will be held Monday August 2, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. Continued visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service at the church. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
