Robert E. Spoerry, age 91 of Monroe, died Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Freeport Memorial Hospital. Bob was born on August 17, 1929 in Monroe, the son of Arthur Sr. and Eileen (Yaegers) Spoerry. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1947 and was united in marriage to Marion Ebneter on November 15, 1949 in Brodhead. The couple farmed in Brodhead for eight years before purchasing their farm in Mt. Pleasant Township. Bob was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and liked watching the badgers and packers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with friends.

Bob is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marion Spoerry of Monroe; three children, Michael (Joan) Spoerry of Monroe, Stephen Spoerry of Monticello, and Jeanie (Jim) Belke of Monroe; four grandchildren, Kim (Matt) Peerenboom, Brent Spoerry, Keith (Kathy) Spring, Amy (Justin) Thomas; two great grandchildren, Preston and Paige Thomas; two step-great grandchildren, Treyvor and Caitlyn Thorp; and two sisters-in-law, Nancy Spoerry of Monroe, and Clarice Spoerry of Janesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William and Arthur Jr.

Private family memorial services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested in Robert’s name to St. John’s United Church of Christ.
