Phyllis J Broge, born in Sept 1931, passed May 12th. She’s the first of 4 children, survived by 1 sister, Charlene, along with her 3 children Lori, Dale and Deborah; 5 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis grew up on a farm outside of McConnell. She was Prom Queen, President of the Girls Athletic Association, and President of the Annual Club.

When she married Allen, he joined the Navy and they traveled. Settling back in Illinois, they operated dairy/grain farms and raised a family. When they sold Phyllis’s family homestead outside of McConnell in 1973 they opened “Al’s Sunoco” in Winslow, IL.

in 1977 they moved to Buffalo, WY where Phyllis opened a craft store. She also did upholstery, managed long-term rentals and cooked for the hospital. Then they drove semi-tractor coast to coast (her handle was Country Lady) until partially retiring in Sun City, AZ. Her all-time favorite job was working at the Cardinals Stadium with security. They moved back to Monroe, WI in 2017 to be closer to their extended family.

Phyllis passed peacefully with family by her side. There will be no services at this time and the family asks for no flowers or cards to be sent. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers. We will announce a celebration of life for both Phyllis and Allen in September.
