Marilyn Rose Gruenberg, age 70 of New Glarus passed away at home on Friday, November 25, 2022.  She was born on October 22, 1952, the daughter of Paul and June (Thoman) Gruenberg.  She attended grade school in Juda, and later graduating from Monroe High School in 1970. 

Marilyn was an accomplished musician and artist who attended several colleges to pursue her multiple interests.  She also played a role in costuming and set design in theater productions.  Furniture restoration was a major part of her life in which she was very meticulous.  Marilyn was also a fierce “come from behind” scrabble player. 

Marilyn, as well as her partner of 30 years, Karen Olson, owned Cobblers II in New Glarus for 14 years until she suffered a stroke in 2006.

Marilyn is survived by her mother, June Gruenberg of Monroe, her partner, Karen Olson of New Glarus; sister-in-law, Joan Gruenberg; nephew, Paul Gruenberg; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul and brother, Ronald.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Marilyn’s Life will be held at a later date in New Glarus.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
