Margaret J. Keller, age 94 of New Glarus, formerly of Monticello, died on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the New Glarus Home. Margaret was born on June 18, 1923 in Blanchardville, the daughter of Oscar and Marie (Buetzer) Kipfer. She graduated from Argyle High School and Green County Normal School. She taught rural school until her marriage to Alfred Keller Jr. on January 19, 1946 at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in Argyle. The couple farmed in Washington Township from 1946 until 1992. Margaret was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello. She enjoyed gardening and will always be remembered as a great teacher and for the love she gave her family. 

She is survived by four children, Janet (Oscar) Ruedinger of Orangeville, IL, Richard (Janice) Keller of Monticello, Barbara (Mike) Krauss of Belleville, and Gary (Sharon) Keller of Juda; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry (Mary) Kipfer of Franklin, WI, and Harlow Kipfer of Sun Prairie, WI; and two sisters-in-law, Merrilee and Carol Kipfer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred, on June 18, 2000; a sister, Bertha Larson; and five brothers, Fred, Glenn, Delbert, Orville, and Oscar Kipfer Jr. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Reverend Lance Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Margaret’s name.
