Louise Clara Wells, age 95 of Monroe passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.  She was born on May 8, 1927, in Monroe, the daughter of George and Anna (Mueller) Korn.  She never graduated but attained her G.E.D. later in life.  Louise married Emerson Wells on April 27, 1946 in Monroe.

Louise worked at Spurgeon’s Department Store for 34 years, later working at Farm & Fleet where she retired at the end of 2000.  She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and Browntown Busy Bee’s Homemakers Club, and card club.  Louise enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She is survived by her daughter Marcia (David) Wald; grandchild, Barry Wald and Joel (Connie) Wald; and 6 great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emerson; son, Jeffrey; brothers, George, William, Albert, and Walter; sisters, Marie Waelchli and Margaret Chesbro; and granddaughter, Lisa Wald in infancy. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at St. John’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Todd Hackman officiating.  Burial will follow at Kelly Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.  Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com
