Lela M. Isely, age 85 of Monroe, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. Lela was born on May 9, 1935 in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of John and Ruth (Zettle) Heimann. She married John C. Isely on November 25, 1953 in Monroe. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1999. Lela worked in the St. Clare Hospital Cafeteria, Oaktron Industries, and most recently Winslow Industries until her retirement. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary to Cecil Jones Post #2312 and attended Crossroads Community Church. Lela enjoyed playing the lottery, reading J.D. Robb books, going on shopping trips with her family, and especially loved time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her three children, Steve (Connie) Isely of Juda, David (Karen) Isely, Vanessa Topp (Steve Tessendorf), all of Monroe; eleven grandchildren; many great and great-greatgrandchildren; a son-in-law, Joe Niedermeier of Rock City, IL, and sisters-in-law, Lois Heimann of Janesville, and Marian Heimann of Monroe.

In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Dawn Niedermeier; great granddaughter, Veronika; five brothers, Claire, Gene, Harold, Loris, and Roscoe Heimann; and two sisters, Alberta Paul and Marietta Wood.

Private graveside services will be held in Staver St. Peters Cemetery, Clarno Township. A memorial fund will be established in Lela’s name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
