Kay L. Rufi age 76, of Monroe, died Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Azura Memory Care in Monroe. Kay was born on October 5, 1945 in Cumberland, WI, the daughter of Ernest and Irene (Anderson) Abbuehl. She graduated from Orangeville (IL) High School in 1964 and the Milwaukee Accredited School of Beauty Culture in Madison. Kay worked as a beautician in Monroe for 40 years, many at her own salon.

She was united in marriage to Marvin Rufi on February 19, 1983. The couple enjoyed camping, canoeing, dinners out, and road trips. Kay was a fabulous cook who enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She adored her grandchildren and treasured spending time with them. She was a faithful member of Union Presbyterian Church for over 40 years, where she had many cherished friends and loved serving in the kitchen.

Kay is survived by her husband, Marvin Rufi of Monroe; daughter, Teresa (Jason) Kraemer of Madison; son, Paul L. (Brook) Riemer of Eden Prairie, MN; five grandchildren, Abigail, Natalie, and Chloe Kraemer, Owen and Kiera Riemer; two sisters, Jeanne (Gaylon) Obert, Connie (Thomas) Folgate, both of Orangeville, IL; brothers-in-law, Ron Babler of Monroe; Thomas (Alyce) Rufi of The Colony, TX; sisters-in-law, Holly Abbuehl of McFarland, WI, Carolyn Abbuehl of Tucson, AZ, Margaret Rufi of Monticello; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Paul F. Riemer; sister, Nancy Babler; brothers, John and Glenn Abbuehl; and brother-in-law, Robert Rufi.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., at Union Presbyterian Church, Monroe, with Rev. Stacy Cavanaugh officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a fellowship meal at the church. Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
