Kathleen Patricia “Katie” Davis, age 89, of Juda, died peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Pleasant View Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Katie was born on October 21, 1933 in Freeport, Illinois, the daughter of Woodrow and Clara (Schneeberger) Kurtz. She grew up in Rock Grove, Illinois and graduated from Dakota High School in 1951.

Katie met her husband, Dale Davis, at a barn dance in Rock Grove. They were united in marriage on February 18, 1952 in the Juda parsonage. In addition to being a farmer’s wife, Katie worked at Helland’s Food and Locker, The Loafing Shed, and later at the Juda School cafeteria. Katie and Dale raised six children on the family farm. The house was always full of the sights and sounds of a big family: joy, laughter, occasional tears, and shouts of “no wrestling in the living room”. Katie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, baking, and watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events. She and Dale were regular spectators at Juda softball games. Katie also enjoyed playing cards at card club, bowling on Sunday nights, going for car rides, and spending time at the casino. Katie loved being with her family. She is now at peace, reunited with Dale in heaven, and restored of the memories of the loving family she raised. Katie was a member of Oakley Union United Methodist Church.

Katie is survived by her five children, Dan (Judy) Davis of Rockton, Scott (Kristi) Davis, Penny (Cruz) Ramos, Bill (Traci) Davis, all of Juda, Mary Legler (Anthony Antonio) of Stoughton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura Bambrick, Jeff Davis, David Davis, Todd Davis, Lyn Ramos, Jacob Ramos, Amber Ramos, Tyler Davis, Tabatha Davis, Trent Davis, Evan Legler, Brycen Antonio; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale, on Nov. 3, 2021; and a son, Tom Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Rev. Kelly Jahn officiating. Interment will be in Oakley Church Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Juda Community Center. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 29, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Katie’s name to Oakley Union Church, Oakley Union Cemetery, or Friends of Pleasant View.
