Karen D. (Marti) Potter, age 65 of Monroe, died Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on January 7, 1955 in Monroe, the daughter of Donald and Lucille (Martin) Marti. Karen married Delbert G. Potter on June 26, 1986 in Monroe. Karen had a few different careers over the years, but she found that her passion of being a housewife most gratifying as she was able to help look after her grandchildren which she loved dearly. Karen was a former member of the Church of the Nazerene and United Methodist Church, both of which she loved, but due to health issues over the last several years she was unable to attend regularly. When Karen was younger, she was active in a few extracurricular activities, but meeting with friends to chat over coffee and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is what brought her the most joy in life.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert of Monroe; children: Robert (Eileen) Bennett, Rudy (Kathryn) Bennett and Angel (Alan) Prien, Robert’s children, Lukas (Jenelle) Bennett, Rebecca (Ryan) Bennett-Pfile, Robert’s grandchildren Kaiydyn, Asypen, Emmett and Gracelyn (with another one on the way), Angel’s children Nicole, Riley, Michelle, Weston, Baby Prien (deceased at infancy), Sarah, Quinn, Easton, and Alan Jr. (deceased at infancy) all of Monroe; Sisters Diane (Wayne) Rosensteil of Browntown and Renee (Richard) Meier of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry Marti and sister, Emogene Robieson.

During these trying times, the health and safety of Karen’s family, friends and loved ones would be the most important thing to her. Therefore, the family has decided that the best way to honor and remember her is to have a Celebration of Life at a later date. SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home is assisting the family.
