Joyce I. Vogel, age 89 of Monroe, died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Monroe Health Services. Joyce was born on April 9, 1929 in Blanchardville, the daughter of Alfred A. and Alta I. (Trotter) Gerber. Joyce married Walter Vogel on April 15, 1950 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Monroe. Joyce worked for Dorman Cheese of Monroe for many years before retiring in 1991. Joyce was an animal lover especially her cats and dogs, but above all else she loved spending time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards and she always enjoyed camping trips with Walter. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Rich (Jeanne) Vogel of Brodhead and Steve (Mary) Vogel of Monroe; three grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Rhea of Cleburne, TX, Amanda (Scott) Gratz of Providence, R.I., and Rick Vogel and fiancée Chelsea Siegenthaler of Brodhead; three greatgrandsons, Robert, Cory, and Jase Rhea; and a sister, LouAnn (Gary) Colden of Juda. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter, on January 21, 2007; a grandson, Cory A. Vogel; two brothers, Alfred Gerber and Franklyn Gerber; and two sisters, Betty Langdok and Ruth McKeon.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Reverend Kathleen Rinear officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
