On March 22, 2019 James “Jim” E. Straight, age 74, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family. Jim was a man who loved God. His favorite bible verse was: “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3 KJV.

He was born August 4, 1944 in Hanover, IL; the son of Bette Kallestad and Charles Straight both of Savanna, IL. He graduated from Hanover High School, in Hanover, IL; and Fellowship Bible College in East Peoria, IL. Jim was united in marriage to Mary Lou Wilkins of Pasadena, CA (previously of Freeport, IL) on January 12, 1963. Together they “went for the gold” celebrating 56 years of marriage.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife: Mary Lou of Monroe; daughters, Tina (Scott) Hatchett of East Troy and Jennifer (Randy) Bowen of Monroe; one brother, Larry Straight of Hanover, IL; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel, Caleb, Daniel, and Hannah Hatchett; one great-granddaughter, Nora Iris Hatchett of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.

 Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother, Charles Straight of Forreston, IL.

 Jim will be greatly missed.

 There will be no formal services per Jim’s final request. Cremation rites will be handled with Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
