Ivan J. Seffrood, age 70, of South Wayne was called home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 19, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on May 9, 1950 in Monroe, the son of Earl and Alice (Clarke) Seffrood. He attended Porter Grade School and South Wayne High School. Ivan and Dorothy A. Russell were united in marriage on November 7, 1970 at Gratiot United Methodist Church.
Ivan was a longtime farmer in the South Wayne area; he also worked at Monroe Redi-Mix, currently known as Flynn Redi Mix, he also owned and operated IDS Trucking, he drove truck for SSS Farms and later worked at Triangle Truck.
Ivan loved the outdoors; he was an avid fisher and hunter. Family was of the utmost importance to Ivan, and he had a strong bond with his brothers. He enjoyed playing cards with his brothers and friends, as well as watching the Packers, Brewers, NASCAR and stockcar racing. Ivan thoroughly enjoyed attending tractor pulls and local races, he never missed a Friday night race in Darlington. He was an avid country music fan, and attended numerous concerts with Dorothy. Ivan was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in South Wayne.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Seffrood; children, Beverly (Scott) Foley of Browntown and Chad Seffrood of Mesa, AZ; grandson, Joshua Foley; siblings, Wesley (Rose) Seffrood, Mert (Calvin) Melland, Emil (Shirley) Seffrood, Ed (Shirley) Seffrood and Gary (Linda) Seffrood; sisters-in-law, Carol and Pat Seffrood; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Kathleen Russell; infant son, Theodore James Seffrood; brothers, LeRoy & Elton; and infant grandson, Noah Lee Foley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will follow service in Union Cemetery in South Wayne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Ivan’s memory.
