Henry “Hank” “Biz” Blumer, age 86, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 on the home farm where he was born and raised. He was born the son of Harold and Sadie (Leuzinger) Blumer. He attended Monroe High School. Henry was united in marriage to Mary Joyce Kammerude on February 11, 1956. They shared 67 years together until Mary Joyce’s passing on December 26, 2023.
Henry proudly served in the US Army National Guard. He continued to farm throughout his adult life, alongside Mary Joyce. Henry was also a talented musician, learning accordion at a young age from Rudy Burkhalter. He formed the band Hank’s Polka Boys and performed for many events over the years. He was fondly known as Grandpa Peacock by his great-grandchildren.
Henry is survived by his children, Rebecca Blumer of Monroe, Robert (Sharon) Blumer of Monroe, Kenneth (Marcia) Blumer of Winslow, IL, Judith (Bruce) Meier of Monroe, and Julie (Ron Martin) Blumer of Monroe; together with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Harold “Butch” Blumer; sister, Shirley Friedrichs; brother-in-law, Oscar “Fritz” Kammerude; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Hogan, Elaine Karlen and Judith Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers-in-law, Milton Friedrichs, Virgil Bieger, James Hogan, Michael Hughes, and Rolland Karlen.
Private Family Services will be held. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
