Gerald “Jerry” Roy Schmoldt, age 83 of Monroe formerly of Browntown, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at his home. He was born the son of Carl and Lydia (Lentz) Schmoldt on February 16, 1937 in rural Monroe. He was a 1954 graduate of Monroe High School. Jerry was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Vincent on November 6, 1955 in Monroe; they were one day short of celebrating 65 years together.
Jerry was a plant manager for Trumpy Cheese in Blanchardville for many years. He was also a custodian at the Behring Senior Center in Monroe. Jerry was a member of Peace Church in Christ in Browntown. He served on the Browntown Fire Department for 21 years, and served as Chief for 5 of those years. Jerry was an accomplished artist in oils, chalk and charcoal. He enjoyed golfing, hunting morel mushrooms and ginseng with his best friend, Jim Friedli, and he especially enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jimmie of Monroe; children, Deborah (Michael) James of Ft. Worth, TX, Becky (Perry) Bergum of Madison and their children, Brady and Garret, Judy (Philip) Everson of Monroe, Heidi (John DiTulio) Schmoldt of Peoria, AZ and her daughter, Haylee Espinoza of TN; brother, Willis Schmoldt of Monroe. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and four sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Peach Church in Christ in Browntown with Pastor Scott Cernek officiating.
